When pushed down, they lie flat with the surface; when pressed, they rise up to reveal standard plugs and USB ports.

Option 2: Mounted ABOVE the Countertop (Max 20 Inches)

Receptacles can be mounted above the countertop work surface, provided they are no higher than 20 inches above the counter.

Countertops are splash zones. Whether it's a tipped-over glass of milk or a boiling pot overflow, liquids naturally pool on flat counters. To pass inspection, any pop-up outlet assembly installed face-up in a countertop must be explicitly listed for countertop or work surface use.

  • UL Spill Test Rating: Listed countertop pop-ups undergo rigorous splash and liquid spill testing (typically withstands half a gallon of liquid spilled directly over the closed assembly without leaking into live electrical contacts).
